This simple greeting, which is a form of Arabic expression, says: “Peace be upon you.” It is often used to greet children, especially those who are in good health and well-fed. Many Muslims consider it a sign of good health, but the practice is not limited to religious people.
I feel like this term has popped up a lot recently. In English, there are some phrases that are used almost interchangeably like ‘Good evening’ and ‘Good morning’, but the meaning is subtly different. For example, ‘Good evening’ is often used as a greeting to show that something good or pleasant is happening. But ‘Good morning’ is used to show that something good or pleasant is happening, but is not in full force.
In many ways Good evening and Good morning are similar, as they are both used to greet someone to start the day. However, they are used in different ways. Good evening describes an action, while Good morning simply describes a state of being. So in a way, Good evening is a greeting while Good morning is a state of being.
Again, in many ways Good evening and Good morning are used interchangeably, so the distinction is actually fairly subtle. In other words, although they both show a positive change in the day’s events, they do not change the same thing. Good evening is a greeting to begin your day, while Good morning is an acknowledgement that you have a good day.
There is a little more to it though. Good evening is the way we say “Good morning,” the way we greet each other in the mornings. Good morning is the way we greet each other in the afternoons and evenings after work. These days we are more likely to say Good evening. That way, we don’t have to say it every morning, but we can still say it during the day.
Good evening, Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening again, Good morning again,…
This is our way of saying good-bye. We hope this helps you out and that you’ll be more understanding in the future.
Good-bye is the last sound that we make before we go our separate ways. We may be the last ones to say good-bye.
